CaptureGem proxy workflow on macOS

CaptureGem’s Proxy tab is a separate capture workflow for browser traffic routed through the local CaptureGem proxy: you start Google Chrome through CaptureGem, play the stream, and record it from the tab. It is not the same as an external VPN or a system-wide proxy setting. Recording from the Proxy tab is a Premium feature, meant for private shows you can watch in your own browser and for sites CaptureGem can’t record on its own.

Quit Chrome completely first with Cmd+Q; closing its windows isn’t enough on a Mac, and Chrome only uses the proxy when it starts fresh. In CaptureGem’s Proxy tab, click Show Terminal Command, copy the command, paste it into Terminal and press Return. Browse a page and check that Total Requests at the top of the Proxy tab goes up, then load a stream you are authorized to view. When its row appears in the Proxy tab, click Record for a short test, then Stop Recording. Wait for finalization and verify the result in Review, where you can correct the model name and site with Edit Metadata. Availability varies by site and stream type.

The command starts Chrome with --ignore-certificate-errors, so while that Chrome runs it won’t warn you about an invalid or intercepted HTTPS certificate. It opens with your usual Chrome profile and saved sign-ins, so use that window only for cam sites, not for banking, email or other accounts you care about. When you’re done, quit Chrome completely and open it again the normal way, which turns certificate checks back on. See troubleshooting if no stream is detected.
