CaptureGem proxy workflow on Windows
CaptureGem’s Proxy tab records streams the local browser-proxy workflow can detect: you start Google Chrome through CaptureGem, play the stream, and record it from the tab. Recording from the Proxy tab is a Premium feature. The packaged Windows build includes a Chrome proxy launcher; use the script bundled with your current app build rather than guessing a system-wide proxy port.
Close every Chrome window first and end any Google Chrome process still listed in Task Manager, because Chrome only uses the proxy when it starts fresh. In CaptureGem’s Proxy tab, click Open Scripts Folder and double-click start-chrome-with-proxy.bat; it doesn’t need administrator rights. Browse a page and check that Total Requests in the Proxy tab goes up, then load a stream you are authorized to view. When its row appears, click Record for a short sample, then Stop Recording and wait for finalization. Open the resulting file in Review and check its duration, playback, model name and site. Site and stream support varies.
The launcher starts Chrome with --ignore-certificate-errors, so while that Chrome runs it won’t warn you about an invalid or intercepted HTTPS certificate. It opens with your usual Chrome profile and saved sign-ins, so use that window only for cam sites, not for banking, email or other accounts you care about. When you’re done, quit Chrome completely and open it again the normal way, which turns certificate checks back on. See troubleshooting and file locations.
