Record Chaturbate with CaptureGem

CaptureGem has a built-in Chaturbate integration that saves public shows from the desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux. In most regions you don’t need a Chaturbate account. This guide covers what to paste, what each status means, and how to handle rate limits and region checks.
Before you start
Download CaptureGem for Windows, macOS or Linux and open the desktop app. Run the newest release.
What to paste or type
Open the room in your browser and copy the address bar, for example https://chaturbate.com/model_username/. The username is whatever follows chaturbate.com/, and upper or lower case makes no difference.
Add the stream
- Open the Record tab in CaptureGem.
- Paste the link into Enter URL or Username in the Add Stream panel. CaptureGem recognizes it and sets Select Website to Chaturbate. To type just the username instead, choose Chaturbate under Select Website first.
- Leave Monitor Only switched off. With it on, CaptureGem only watches the stream and doesn’t save a video.
- Click Add Stream.
What the status means
A room in a public show switches to Recording within a few seconds. Otherwise the Status column tells you why:
- Private: the model is in a private show.
- Offline: the model is offline, away, or in a hidden show.
- Rate Limited: Chaturbate told CaptureGem to slow down. CaptureGem waits and tries again by itself.
- Errored: CaptureGem couldn’t check or record the room.
Hover over a status to see more detail, including the reason behind an Errored status.
Free version or Premium
On the free version, each recording is saved for up to 5 minutes and you can add up to 10 models. Recording only starts if the model is live when you add or start them, so if they were offline, start the recording again once they’re back. Premium removes both limits and adds auto-record: select the model on the Record tab, open Modify Auto Record under Actions and choose Record Always. From then on CaptureGem records whenever the model comes online and starts again after a disconnect. Turning on Auto Record All Newly Added Models in Settings does the same for every model you add later. Live previews of everything that’s recording are on the Monitor tab.
Where the recording goes
After a recording stops, CaptureGem converts it into a video file, which can take a while for a long session. The Review tab lets you play, trim, tag or delete it, and Open Video Folder on the Record tab opens the folder that holds your files. Recordings are MP4 files by default. With Premium, each file runs up to 60 minutes by default and auto-record continues straight into the next one. The save folder, the file length (Cap Video Segments at Duration (Minutes)) and the container format are all in Settings; the settings overview on capturegem.com explains each option.
Chaturbate notes and troubleshooting
- Rate Limited is expected: Chaturbate limits how often apps can check rooms. CaptureGem spaces out its checks, and when Chaturbate asks it to back off it pauses and retries, so recording picks up again within a few minutes. There is nothing to fix, and Custom Headers aren’t needed for rate limits. Just avoid setting Offline Retry Wait Time very low in Settings.
- Region blocks and age verification: where Chaturbate requires sign-in or age verification, its rooms show Errored. Sign in to Chaturbate in your browser, complete any verification, then give CaptureGem that browser session with Chaturbate Custom Headers.
- “Chaturbate has no room named …”: the username is misspelled or the room no longer exists. Copy the username from the room’s address again.
- VPNs and servers: Chaturbate sometimes challenges connections from VPNs and servers. CaptureGem shows the challenge in the Errored status and keeps retrying. If one VPN location keeps failing, switch location or turn the VPN off.
- Duplicate username: the same room was added twice with different capitalization. Only one entry records, so delete the other.
- Private shows: CaptureGem saves public shows. If you can watch a private show in your own browser, the Premium Proxy feature can record it; capturegem.com has proxy guides for Windows, macOS and Linux.
